SHOOT & SHARE PHOTO CONTEST.

So if you remember, I spoke of a photo contest nearly non stop last month. Shoot & Share hosts a huge one every year... This year there were over 330,000 photos entered, involving over 10,000 photographers from across the world.

30 of my images placed, here are the results (click the image to see the next):

I am THRILLED with how I did, especially for entering for the first time, in such a prestigious contest!

For specifics, if you're interested. The "top 100" photo placed 26th, specifically, in its category, out of thousands. The "finalist" image placed 521st, specifically in its category, out of 36,000 images. If you see yourself, and you're dying to know exactly what number your face placed, get ahold of me, I am more than happy to brag a little more.

If your face has been in front of my camera, THANK YOU. If your name is Brandi Howell (Simply Rustic Photography), THANK YOU. If you are my husband, THANK YOU. If you have ever liked and/or shared my work or mentioned my business, THANK YOU. I love you all.

NEW YEAR!

Wowza, it's been a while since I have posted on the blog! All these social media outlets truly keep me busy! (Be sure to follow my Instagram page @nicddkphoto and like me on Facebook - Nic Dudek Photo).

I am welcoming 2017 with open arms, lots of growth and lots of opportunities. My word of the year is FLOURISH. I want to FLOURISH in skill, growth, inspiration, ALL OF IT!

Happy new year everyone! Here is my most "liked" photos from 2016! Which one is your favorite?

See you all in 2017, and if I haven't yet, I want to take your picture!

MOMMA + SON

Speaking from experience, a bond between mom and son is truly something special. There is a reason for the terminology "momma's boy". There is no truer love between the two. And let me tell ya, the girls that meet Grant in his future better watch out for his momma, she is a force to be reckoned with.

You know the drill, get ahold of me to book sessions.

FAM

While Ryan and I were visiting in Colorado, I was lucky enough to be asked to grab some pictures of our friends and their extended family. They are such fun and crazy people, always joking. I never once had to tell them to smile like they meant it. It was awesome.

Family sessions are really special because it gets everyone together at one time, something that might not happen all too often anymore with busy lives, and families of our own to take care of. But to have these memories with your parents, siblings, and their families are important, don't take them for granted.

FIFTEEN

We headed downtown for another senior session the other day. Phoenix is a hip town, with a lot of diversity all in walking distance. Its a fun change of pace from the expected desert landscape, and gives a rad vibe. I always like goin' down there to hang... I just have to remember, I am no longer as cool (and probably never was) as the seniors these days.

And of course, a little bit silly. Ah, to be this age again.

THIRTEEN

Guys, girls, friends, foes, I really don't care who! Let me tell you somethin'.

Seniors really are something special. It's that special 'in between' stage, they aren't a child, but they have a lot of growing up to do, they know a lot, but still have a lot to learn, they are so optimistic, and (unfortunately) will have moments that challenge their optimism.

They truly bring a feeling of youthfulness over me, when I'm with them. I try to be 'cool' but.... Ya know.

I really admire their eagerness, their excitement, their innocence. My favorite is to know these young people, and WATCH THEM GROW. Watch them improve, learn, and age.

PS: since when do seniors look so damn beautiful?

TEN

My heart. It's melting.

This gal is turning one, and oh my goodness, she is ADORABLE. Then her whole family hopped in for some photos, and it just got overwhelmingly ADORABLE.

Happy birthday, sweet Lo. I am excited to see you grow.

NINE

The military is more than a job. It's a heartfelt promise, oath, and commitment to protect our country from anything and everything harmful. Jacob has re-enlisted for 6 more years, one of which keeps him away from his sweet, sweet family for a year.

Thank you for always committing to our country AND your family, it's appreciated more than you can fathom.

FIVE

I photographed a friend's wedding reception the other day. It was such a GREAT experience. A beautiful, late night backyard party, with bread bowls and hot chocolate, country music, and happy kids. The bride and groom are the sweetest, and I wish them the BEST marriage.

Here are a few shots from that day. It was really REALLY hard to pick which ones I wanted to share, as I would love to share them all, especially as my first wedding experience. So bear with me, there are lots. Let me know what you think!

FOUR

Christmas part 3 happened for us over the New Year holiday, and it was a joy. We like to spend some time tucked away in the Catalina foothills with the Dudek clan. It is always a unique experience, as the whole family is full of crafty people which typically results in fantastic home made gifts (that makes it really hard to guess what your presents are).

Cason picked carrots from his Grammy's garden, visited the Tucson Botanical Garden, baked goodies, played outside and had a wonderful time opening gifts and sharing stories. Another year down, just like that.

Oh boy is my heart FULL for this picture?! My first passion, soccer, and look at that, Cason is taking it up. YES.

I am off to photograph a very special and FUN family today, and so excited. Stuck around for those photos.
